BIG PICTURE
Defito excludes certain foods from the allowed foods for several reasons:
they can cause an allergic reaction or food hypersensitivity,
they contain toxic chemical compounds,
certain foods are highly acidifying,
certain foods produce a lot of mucus,
certain foods contribute to swelling and inflammation,
some foods are just hard to digest.
During the Defito diet, the immune and digestive systems are less stressed as most potential allergens are removed from the diet.
Often we do not notice how certain foods affect our body (e.g. dairy or gluten-containing foods) because we eat them all the time. Eliminating such foods for the duration of the program allows us to understand which foods are sources of chronic diseases, and which ones can and should be avoided, because the period BEFORE and AFTER detox is the best time to change eating habits.
NUTS
Peanuts. Very common allergen. Commercially grown peanuts are usually full of chemicals, and organic peanuts are often infested with mold, which produces alpha toxins. And, even if you are not prone to severe anaphylactic reactions, many people are extremely sensitive to toxins from mold life.
All nuts significantly (up to 50%) reduce their fat content per unit weight if soaked in water for several hours (or overnight) before eating. Soaking also partially destroys enzyme inhibitors found in the skin of raw nuts, which promotes better nutrient absorption.
VEGETABLES
Solanaceae. Potatoes, tomatoes, eggplants, and sweet bell peppers belong to the nightshade family. The nightshades are often rich in alkaloids that cause mild toxicosis in some people. The nightshades are attributed to the negative effects of impaired digestion and increased swelling of the body.
According to Ayurvedic tradition, nightshades improve the sensitivity of the body, and inhibit normal digestive processes when overeating. For example, some potatoes contain a neurotoxin solaninewhich is quite poisonous (which is why you should cut off the "green" edges of potatoes). Typical symptoms of solanine poisoning are joint pain and swelling.
Dried types of peppers can be used as spices. While Cayenne, chili pepper and paprika belong to the nightshade family, we can safely add small quantities of these spices to food. It will only be beneficial if there is no specific reaction of the body.
Canned vegetables. Fresh is best, then frozen. Canned vegetables are in cans for several years, which do not meet ideal storage conditions, and also transfer to food some of the substances from the protective film and metal. Eat food from cans in the most extreme cases.
FRUITS
Oranges and Orange Juices. May be highly allergenic.
Grapefruit. This fruit blocks the functioning of certain enzymes in the body.
Citrus fruits. All citrus fruits are excluded from the permitted products due to high allergenicity, except for lemon and lime. Lemons and limes saturate the body with electrolytes, promote cleansing processes and are excellent for detox.
Bananas. This fruit contains a lot of starch and sugars. Many people use bananas in shakes and smoothies. Try using berries, nut milk, or a spoonful of avocado to replace bananas and achieve a similar consistency.
Packaged juices. All concentrated fruit juices (which is any juice except freshly squeezed juices) are high in sugar and create unpleasant spikes in blood sugar levels, similar to sugary sodas. All packaged juices are pasteurized, which reduces or destroys most vitamins and nutrients.
Strawberries. It's an allergen. If you really want it, buy it with care from gardeners you know. This will protect you from industrial pesticides and herbicides.
Grapes. Currently one of the top five most chemically treated fruits with pesticides and herbicides.
Milk and Eggs
Milk/ Cheese/ Yogurt/ Butter. Often contain carcinogenic alpha toxin from mold growth. Contribute to the formation of large amounts of mucus, are highly allergenic and highly acidifying. Yogurt after pasteurization loses most of its beneficial substances and often contains sugar. After undergoing a cleanse, you will be able to experience on a cleanse how dairy products affect your body.
Eggs. Highly allergenic, especially if they come from factory farmed hens raised on compound feed. Try to find a farm that produces healthy chicken eggs with real, rich-colored yolks.
Ice cream. Contains milk and sugar. Lots of fat. Very hard to digest.
ANIMAL PROTEIN
Warm-water, tropical and industrial fish. High risk of parasite infestation, as well as consumption of heavy metal compounds. Fish from fish processing plants are kept in cages, do not move much, eat mixed fodder, and are therefore inherently susceptible to diseases and various infections.
Try to eat river fish, fish from cold rivers, lakes and seas that have grown wild.
Seafood. High risk of contracting parasites as well as consuming heavy metal compounds.
Red meat. Contains harmful nitrates. Strongly acidifies the body and affects all internal organs, especially the excretory organs - liver and kidneys. In industrial production, hormones and antibiotics are always used to accelerate animal growth, which are transmitted with meat and are extremely harmful to the human body. Feeding mixed fodder reduces the quantity and quality of protein in red meat, and animal fats turn out to be not so useful.
If you decide to continue eating red meat after the program ends, opt for farm-raised meats when purchasing.
Semi-finished products. In October 2014, WHO (World Health Organization) officially announced that all industrial convenience foods are the cause of colon cancer. Try to give up convenience foods in any form for good.
Raw fish, raw seafood, raw meat. Eliminate all species. High risk of parasite infestation.
OTHER PROTEIN SOURCES
Soybeans. It's an allergen. Often contain carcinogenic types of mold. The vast majority of soy in the world is GMO, which can be a cause of hormonal disorders in both men and women. Avoid eating tofu, soy milk, soy sauce and other soy products.
CEREALS
Wheat (Gluten). Gluten is a protein found in wheat and other cereal grains such as barley, rye, spelt and kamut. The list of syndromes and diseases associated with gluten sensitivity already seems endless. This protein causes irritation and direct damage to the intestines, which is the cause of many problems in the body. Gluten triggers an autoimmune response mechanism and affects the thyroid gland, as well as setting the stage for "leaky gut" syndrome. Gluten hypersensitivity has been linked to chronic headaches, cancer, type 1 diabetes, nervous system disorders and increased risk of premature death.
The history of gluten refusal shows that this protein directly affects digestion and abdominal bloating as well as general weakness and mental fogginess. While some people already suffer from a serious allergy to wheat, almost everyone faces an immune response from the body to the protein. The immune response can cause a whole range of negative reactions that we are only beginning to understand and recognize.
Compared to vegetables and fish, gluten-containing foods such as cakes and cookies contain many more chemical additives, preservatives and sugar.
Flakes. Often contain gluten. Also, the protein in oatmeal often has a similar effect on the body as wheat proteins.
Vegetarian/Vegan Food Substitutes. Avoid vegetarian/vegan substitutes for sausage, milk and other highly processed foods. They almost always contain gluten.
Corn. It's an allergen. Often GMO. Corn is rich in sugars, so it causes significant insulin spikes, has a high glycemic index. Often contains toxic mold products (alpha-toxin), which has been linked to liver cancer, as well as hypersensitivity to corn in many people.
White rice. It contains a lot of starch, sugars and is deeply industrially processed. It is always better to replace with brown, red, brown, wild rice. You can put white rice for a day in a jar of water, periodically changing the water, then most of the starch will dissolve and come out.
BEVERAGES
Caffeine. Strongly acidifies the body, puts great strain on the excretory organs (liver and kidneys), dehydrates us and puts us in a state of excessive stress. It is addictive and disrupts the natural rhythms of the body (sleep, hormones, etc.).
That said, it is acceptable to allow yourself one cup of espresso in the first half of the day - coffee in small amounts is still good for the body.
Soda. Contains a lot of sugar, flavorings and sweeteners. The product is deeply processed. Has zero nutritional value.
Alcohol (beer, wine, liquor, vodka). It contains a lot of sugar and is very taxing on the excretory organs. Beer and liquors contain gluten, and wine contains sulfates (both allergens).
SWEETENERS
Artificial sweeteners create a false sense of satiety without any nutritional value which leads to gluttony, excess weight gain and unpleasant side effects as they are artificial chemical compounds that are toxins to our body.
Avoid any artificial sweeteners.
Use fruit, dates or date paste, stevia. You can eat natural honey in moderation.
OILS
Many vegetable, nut and seed oils are deeply processed industrially, losing most of their nutrients. Eliminate low-quality oils from your diet and you will already be doing a lot for your health.

SEASONINGS
Salt. Use sea salt, black salt, dried and crushed seaweed.
Ketchup. Contains tomatoes (nightshades) and lots of sugar.
Mustard. You can eat it if it's sugar and coloring free.
Soy sauce. Deep processed soy product. Eliminate from the diet for the duration of the program. Use pomegranate sauce.
Chocolate. It's an addiction. If you can't live without chocolate, eat dark (70% or higher) chocolate without milk.
OTHER
Tobacco/Nicotine. Even organic tobacco grown without chemicals and pesticides causes inflammation of the lungs and arteries, stresses the heart, and disrupts blood sugar regulation. A few body cleanses will allow you to get rid of your tobacco addiction. Be patient.
No. It is best to give up coffee in any form already in the Preparation phase with a proper Diet and regimen. Then you will be more accustomed to doing without coffee during the Purification phase.
Coffee is a dehydrating and acid-forming product that provokes the body to produce mucus. In addition, it puts a lot of strain on the liver.
Decaffeinated coffee has similar effects, so making a choice in its favor does not make sense.

Herbal teas (chamomile, melissa) with a spoonful of natural honey. Our ancestors have been drinking herbs and honey for thousands of years. They lived happily ever after. There is something to learn.
After going through the program you will realize that coffee is not so important for you, and being awake in the morning is a natural state of a person, especially if he leads a healthy lifestyle.

We'll start each day of the detox retreat with a cup of fresh organic coffee - one cup of good coffee a day is good for the body after all.
We recommend drinking at least 2-2.5 liters of water per day.
Keep in mind that coffee, tea, cocoa, and carbonated drinks are liquid foods, not water.
Drink clean, fresh water; tap water, even if boiled, is not suitable for drinking as it contains insoluble chlorine compounds.
To improve water quality, add a mineral mixture of "shungite, silicon, quartz" to a jug of filtered water and infuse for 6-8 hours. Then you can simply refill the jug with water and leave it to infuse overnight.

I have an unbearable craving for sweets. What should I do if I really want to eat something sweet at one of the stages of the program?
Your body needs time to break free from its addiction to unhealthy fast carbohydrates. Drink more fluids, eat vegetable salads, and make sure your food is rich in nutrients.
If you're getting enough nutrients, your body won't ask you to "feed" it something that gives you satiety quickly.
Get into the habit of eating honey. Only real natural from a proven apiary.
Honey - is a natural sweet from Nature. Every time you want a sweet - eat honey, and very quickly get rid of sweets and pastries.
Once in a while, an emotional imbalance is involved in your condition: people often eat sweets for lack of love, companionship, and comfort. Alcohol consumption during Defito programs is prohibited!
Not only will you not get the expected effects of going through the program, but you will worsen the effects of alcohol on your body.
In the process of cleansing, all systems and organs of our body go into the mode of excretion of toxins and toxins, and the resulting "voids" are filled with pure intercellular fluid with a natural set of minerals, salts, organic compounds.

We've noticed that people who start the Cleanse with a few days of pre-prep get much more enjoyment out of the detox, as well as achieving better (and longer lasting) results.
Preparation is a few days of comfortable eating and taking the components of the Defito program to help you get ready for the Cleanse. During the Preparation, you eat two meals a day from the permitted food list, which you also follow during the entire program.
The more heavily processed foods, coffee and alcohol you have consumed over the years, the more toxins your body has accumulated.
It is possible to break into a Cleanse without first Preparing, but doing so will result in an overly rapid elimination of "junk" from the body along with unpleasant conditions such as: excessive weakness, dizziness, abdominal bloating, constipation or diarrhea. Preparation is an important step to achieve the best results with minimal symptoms of the normal Cleansing process.
You smoothly replace highly toxic "wrong" foods with foods rich in vitamins, trace minerals, and fiber, allowing you to slow the Purification process to a comfortable level.
If you regularly drink coffee or consume alcohol, the Prep gives you a few days of transition time before the main Purification begins.

Recent studies show that the sprouted grains significantly reduce the amount of difficult to digest proteins (including gluten) during the sprouting process, and the microflora that lives on the grains has the ability to break down most of the difficult to digest nutrients inside our intestines. Therefore, cereals can be eaten carefully, but only in sprouted form!

Don't worry. Just continue to follow your schedule. If the next shake or herb is less than 60 minutes away, skip it and wait for the next one, and drink the "extra" shake or herb packets during the Recovery phase between meals.
Also use the 60 minute rule.
The rule states that you should allow at least 60 minutes between intakes of cleansing cocktails and herbs. This means that if you miss another Cocktail intake, you can reduce the intervals between intakes from 1.5 hours (90 minutes) to 60 minutes and "catch up" to the schedule in a few intakes. You can do it this way.
The cleansing cocktail is needed to capture the "debris" inside the intestines and remove the toxins to the outside. If you skip the cocktail, some of the toxins can be absorbed back into the bloodstream, which can lead to feeling worse, dizziness, weakness and nausea.
Years ago, the cleansing cocktail was specifically added to a complex of herbs to ease the physical condition during the Purification. It is a sponge to cleanse the body through the intestines.
Please do not skip the shakes and follow the program to achieve the desired results.
Imagine that your body is a big city. Any city lives on a monthly, quarterly, etc. budget, but our body lives on its energy resources. A person's daily energy supply is limited, so the body must constantly decide how best to utilize its resources.
Digestion is one of the most energy-consuming processes in the body (remember the New Year's coma from endless salads and feasts?).
So, if your body is constantly busy digesting food during the Cleanse, it's putting off deep detox for later. There is a great solution for this: the 12-hour window.
After the evening cleansing cocktail, leave your body a 12-hour "window" before taking another morning cocktail.
If you had your last cocktail at 7pm, you should have your morning cocktail at 7am or a little later.
Why?
The body goes into deep cleansing mode about 8 hours after the last meal. Then the body needs to be given some more time to deep cleanse. We believe that 4 hours is enough time for the body to work on cleansing and for your comfort.
8 hours for digestion + 4 hours for deep cleansing = 12-hour window.
If you fill your stomach late at night and eat breakfast early the next day, your body will not have enough time to clean your house. The 12-hour window is not easy to do every day, but this habit is very helpful for the best results of the Cleanse.
You can drink water or herbal teas during the 12-hour "window".
Cleansing cocktail (as scheduled):
Fill the shaker halfway with clean water;
Pour the contents of the cleansing shake packet into the shaker;
Close the shaker tightly and shake well;
Drink without lingering, as the smoothie will quickly swell and become thick;
Fill the shaker halfway with clean water, close tightly, shake well and drink. This will give you enough liquid for the smoothie to pass through your intestines properly.
You can add some jam, honey, freshly squeezed juice for flavor.
Medicinal herbs (as per schedule):

Practitioners of water fasting have their own wisdom: "Anyone can fast, but not everyone can come out of fasting correctly". Therefore, breakdown is a test of willpower and adherence to the rules.
We've seen firsthand how hard it is to limit yourself to an apple and a salad after so many days of complete and partial food withdrawal, so here are some tips:
you've eaten the food, get away from the table immediately and take a walk for at least 15 minutes, so you'll significantly damp down desire eating a lot of crap;
to eat when it is not yet time to eat, drink water, for water literally extinguishes the same hunger for food;
drink herbal tea with natural honey.Because the urge to eat is usually triggered by a drop in blood glucose levels, and honey is an excellent and safe source of fast and healthy glucose.
If you've had a breakdown, drink water when you feel like eating. Water is your main helper. Always carry a bottle of clean water with you.
